Jay was born and raised in Idaho. At an early age spent many days in the outdoors exploring the Snake River bottoms or hiking the lava flows in eastern Idaho. After a 5 year stint as a Navy Seabee Jay returned to Boise to start a family. Jay has 2 children and has been married for 20 years.
Jay started running and racing at 35 years old. He has accomplished many goals that he never dreamed he could do, like qualifying for the Boston Marathon in his first marathon attempt.
